Robert Schad

The exhibition ended in March 2018 and will be shown in the cities Metz (FR) and Saarlouis (DE) until March 2019.

The German sculptor Robert Schad returns with a major exhibition project of his sculptures to the country where his artistic career began in the early 1980s.

The exhibition provides multifaceted insights into the artist’s current work.

In 2007, he produced the 34-metre-tall Cruz ALTA for the new » Santíssima Trindade « church grounds at the Fatima Sanctuary. During 2017/2018, and within the context of this central work in Robert Schad’s oeuvre, he is exhibiting more than 50 sculptures across 20 different locations in Portugal. This exhibition, which is unique in terms of not only the number of exhibited sculptures, but also its extensive breadth, which stretches from the north to the south of Portugal.

His linearly oriented sculptures run like a » golden thread « through the country, opening up new perspectives on the respective locations.

Robert Schad lives and works in Larians, (France) and Chamosinhos (Portugal).

The exhibition is under the patronage of the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Lisbon, Dr Christoph Weil.

The project is accompanied by a catalogue published by modo Verlag with a text by Miguel von Hafe Pérez and a conversation between Rita Fabiana and Robert Schad.
